AMD Ryzen AI 9 300 series laptop processors introduced! What do they offer?
The new Ryzen AI 300 series processors are built on AMD’s latest architectures. They feature a neural processing unit (NPU) called XDNA2, which supports high-performance AI operations. The integrated graphics unit (iGPU) with RDNA 3.5 architecture comes with 16 processing units, significantly boosting graphics performance. For general processing power, the Zen 5 architecture is used.
The first two processors in the series are the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and the Ryzen AI 9 365. The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 has 12 cores and 24 threads, reaching a maximum clock speed of 5.1GHz. It comes with 36MB of cache and a Radeon 890M graphics unit. On the other hand, the Ryzen AI 9 365 has 10 cores and 12 threads, with a maximum clock speed of 5.0GHz, 34MB of cache, and a Radeon 880M graphics unit.
AMD stated that the new XDNA2 NPU has five times the computational capacity and twice the energy efficiency compared to previous generations. This new architecture provides INT8 performance and FP16 accuracy, delivering high performance and accuracy. The ability to perform AI operations quickly and accurately without quantization makes these chips ideal for AI workloads.
From July 2024, the Ryzen AI 300 series will be included in some Copilot Plus laptops announced at Microsoft’s latest Surface event. These laptops include models like the Asus Vivobook S 15 and HP OmniBook. Additionally, we will see these processors in various models from brands like MSI, Asus, and Lenovo. With the launch of these new processors, it will be intriguing to see what advantages users will gain in AI workloads.
